Amplify Change
Challenge
In many countries, sexual education is viewed as a taboo subject, meaning young people struggle to get the information they need to understand (and express) their sexuality in a comfortable, safe environment. "Talking about life skills, more comprehensively" is an online event series, hosted by AmplifyChange, aimed at opening a dialogue for reproductive health education across the globe. In order for the event series to gain the backing of some governments and NGOs, the identity had be slightly covert and less "risqué". We couldn't openly highlight clear sexual themes or motifs in the promotion of the event, yet we needed to appeal to young people and still somehow express to the content of the series.
Solution
To combat this, we developed an identity focused around illustrated speech bubble characters. Using subtle but suggestive facial expressions, and organic shapes that mingle together, these characters nod to the themes of the events, illustrate the idea of discussion and present the talks as a safe and fun space. The resulting identity was applied to event materials, pre event programmes and a post event summary report.
Recognition
As a result of the conference, AmplifyChange is represented on the GlobalPartnership Forum on CSE, co-convened by UNESCO and UNFPA.
